«Public Health» encompasses the municipal actions related to the promotion of health, prevention of disease, quality and food safety, environmental health, animal health control, mortuary safety, sanitary inspection, evaluation of actions and the training and research in these areas. In 2013, by agreement of the Governing Board, responsibilities were delegated in food safety matters, environmental health and animal protection and welfare, relative to the establishment of guidelines, criteria and supervision of activities in the Districts, including the audit of Sanitary inspection services.
«Drug addiction and other Addictive Disorders» integrate the municipal actions related to assistance, prevention, reinsertion and evaluation in the field of addictions, training and research in these areas and the number of actions that the Agency may be responsible for in order to achieve its goals. In 2012, sanctioning power was extended to the consumption of alcohol in public thoroughfares.
